"History of the Siege of Lisbon" - a different (hi)story

Using José Saramago's (1922-2010) novel "The history of the siege Lisbon" (1989) as a model and example, this article attempts to demonstrate function multiperspective narrative structures in metahistoriographical novels, making reference Vera Ansgar Nünning. It discusses problem supposed objectivity studies invisibility marginalised groups, who should no longer be exclusively focus description, but finally also describers. takes brief digression on Hayden White's argument relationship between literature historiography. By analysing structure perspective by looking at means irony novel, aims show how far it critically addresses these problems. concludes that is necessary replace collective singular (according Reinhart Koselleck) with more pluralistic understanding history(-ies).
